1993 Passaggi/Trails

“Passaggi/Trails” came to me as the next logical step of “Tracks”. Fields that had been harvested by machines are, as a result of the passing of the agricultural tools, imprinted with peculiar geometric patterns.
It was interesting to interrupt these fortuitous mechanical designs with man-made routes that would superimpose a different grid on the existing one.
The result reminded me of the animal trails that sometimes mark the landscape in the wilderness as well as on pasture land.
This work was performed in the hills of Val Tidone near Piacenza, in Autumn.

1993 Passaggi / Sentieri

“Passaggi / Trails” è il successivo passo logico di “Tracks”.

Nei campi dove è stato completato il raccolto, a seguito del passaggio delle macchine agricole, sono rimasti impressi originali motivi geometrici.
È stato interessante intersecare questi casuali solchi meccanici con percorsi segnati dal passaggio dell’uomo, sovrapponendo un nuovo reticolo su quello pre-esistente.

Il risultato mi ha richiamato alla memoria le tracce degli animali che a volte marcano il paesaggio sia in luoghi selvaggi che attraverso addomesticati pascoli.
Questo lavoro è stato eseguito sulle colline della Val Tidone vicino a Piacenza, in autunno.
