2012 Barbed Wire (Sebenico)

In Sebenico, in Dalmatia, another experiment with barbed wire, five years after Carloforte.
The work reflects a decidedly heavier situation, in a land where the wounds of the recent fratricidal war are still visible, as soon as we leave from the main street.

The features are the same as in Carloforte: a wall, the barbed wire (which prevents from climbing over) and the sky beyond . But the composition, though not repetitive, gives up fanciful forms.

More than an artistic gesture, it evokes the work of an honest craftsman, who has not given up on inserting some decorative elements, but which clearly has to make do with makeshift means.

2020 Reticolati (Sebenico)

A Sebenico, in Dalmazia, un altro esperimento con il filo spinato, cinque anni dopo Carloforte.
L’opera rispecchia una situazione decisamente più greve, in una terra in cui le ferite della recente guerra fratricida sono ancora visibili quando ci si allontana dalla via principale.

Gli elementi sono gli stessi che a Carloforte : ancora un muro, il filo spinato, che ne impedisce lo scavalcamento, e, oltre, il cielo. Ma la composizione, anche se non ripetitiva, rinuncia a forme fantasiose.

Più che un gesto artistico evoca l’opera di un onesto artigiano, che non ha rinunciato ad inserire qualche elemento decorativo, ma che chiaramente deve arrangiarsi con mezzi di fortuna.
