2014 Do not open that door

In Panama International Airport departure area, a retail client asked to fill a temporary void in the shopping area.

I had a traditional home door fitted in an unfinished wall, that looked totally alien amidst the usual luxury branded shopping.

I drew my inspiration from Monsters, Inc. (a 2001 computer animated movie produced by Pixar), where skilled monsters, through doors that activate portals, venture into the human world to scare children and harvest their screams.

2014 Non aprite quella porta

Nell’area delle partenze dell’aeroporto internazionale di Panama, un cliente che stava aprendo un negozio mi ha chiesto di riempire uno spazio temporaneamente vuoto.

Al centro di un muro grezzo, ho fatto installare una semplice porta di casa, che però appariva totalmente incongrua, circondata com’era da spazi dedicati alla vendita delle marche del lusso.

Mi sono ispirato a Monsters, Inc., un film d’animazione prodotto da Pixar el 2001, in cui dei mostri si sono specializzati nel spaventare i bambini per raccoglierne le urla e, per avventurarsi nel mondo degli umani, attraversano dei portali che hanno l’aspetto di anonime porte.
