2019 Out of Synch Frescoes

No, I won’t reveal the location.
Let’s just say that these XVII century ceiling frescoes were undergoing extensive restoration. Quite an endeavor and the more so because, as it often happens, there was more underneath the surface.
God knows how many times the ceiling had been repainted according to the latest fad in interior decoration or modified to meet the taste of the succeeding landlords of those days.

So why not go a little farther and introduce time lags in a medium apparently as static as a listed historical fresco?
That’s what I did, incorporating discrepancies, redundancies, slightly out-of-tune insertions.

2019 Affreschi fuori fase

Non intendo rivelare dove si trovino.
Ho approfittato del fatto che era in corso un approfondito restauro di alcuni soffitti affrescati del XVII° secolo. Un lavoro complicato dal fatto che, come abbastanza spesso succede, sotto l’ultima superficie apparente erano sopravvissuti dipinti più antichi.
I soffitti erano stati ridipinti affrescati chissà sa quante volte, aggiornandoli all’ultima moda della decorazione d’interni, modificati per soddisfare i gusti dei vari proprietari che in anni remoti si erano succeduti.

Perché allora non osare un po’ di più, introducendo degli sfasamenti temporali in un supporto in apparenza estremamente statico, quale può essere un affresco vincolato dalle Belle Arti?
È quanto ho voluto fare, includendovi discrepanze, ridondanze, inserzioni leggermente stonate.
